About the role:
You will lead our Data Engineering Team who are developing of our next generation Data Platform which underpins our Cyber Security product. You will be an authority for Data Engineering within Nominet and will be responsible for challenging and growing your team members. You’ll need to get hands on when necessary and take ownership of the engineering road map.
In the role you will set and manage expectations with other engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders, whilst demonstrating sound engineering principles by directly contributing toward your team's goals. We’re making a difference by detecting, blocking, and analysing cyber security threats amongst billions of DNS queries. Our mission critical product and high volumes of data mean you will have many challenging problems to solve.
The essential bits:
You will have extensive experience working with modern Data technologies at scale and be able to demonstrate experience building platforms with technologies such as Kafka, Spark, Druid, Cassandra, Elastic or similar.
Technical leadership experience and a solid background in software engineering is a must, we’d like to see 2+ years Engineering Management experience on top of a strong technical background.
You will have proven experience delivering complex software projects from design to production, as well as experience working with Scrum or similar agile methodologies.

You will be experienced in fostering a culture of coaching and be able to demonstrate effective team management aligned to our values of ownership, integrity and boldness.
You’re someone who works collaboratively with other Engineering Managers to drive improvements across engineering.
You will have a passion for leading and growing engineering teams while also being responsible for the timely planning and delivery of the projects the team are working on and will get hands-on when necessary.
