In this new role as Automation Lead you will have the opportunity to increase the automation coverage across the organisation, using your expertise to provide effective reporting on test results, coverage and quality using measure and metrics. You’ll be a role model for the QA team and enjoy coaching and mentoring individuals’ development. You’ll own developing and refining automated test cases, but also get your hands into research and development on tooling choices for the future.  

All impactful stuff for sure. But there’s a whole lot more to this role too. 

  • Discuss and identify automation scope with the business 

  • Provides direction in best practivies adopted at Nominet 

  • Creates the scope for automation solutions 

  • Stays up to date with latest best practices, tooling and trends 

  • Leads the automation team, allocates work and measures progress 

  • Prioritises work for the team and provides technical support to the team 

  • Builds cross departmental relationships 

  • Owns the test infrastructure and automation frameworks 

  • Owns and Manages the automation backlog and work with the team to deliver high-quality, resilient and performant test cases 

  • Owns the adoption of automation tooling and best practices. 

  • Engage with the business to understand the requirements and automation needs. 

  • Share knowledge and best practices with wider business on effective test automation 



In an ideal world, our successful candidate would have some experience and expertise in the things we’ve listed below – but still apply if you don’t tick them all off. Everyone has unique skills to bring to a role at Nominet. We want to hear about yours. 

  • Strong team leadership and influencing skills 

  • Native Mobile automation Frameworks 

  • Coding skills in Java/Javascript/Python or similar languages 

  • Architecture and design skill for automation frameworks and tools 

  • Ability to convert manual test cases into Automation 

  • Experience using test management tools e.g. JIRA, Zephyr, X-Ray. 

  • Agile testing methodologies and behaviour driven development. 

  • Experience with Oracle database scripting. 

  • General understanding of the Internet, Domain Name System (DNS), Registry Systems.
