ABOUT THE ROLE


Our Communications team within Corporate Affairs is growing, and we are looking for a Communications Lead to focus on Media Relations - delivering a proactive and impactful communications plan that ensures Nominet is building a positive reputation with media and influencers. You will play a key role in helping run the Nominet press office, responding to inbound queries and building trusted relationships with media. You will turn stories from around the business into coverage that showcases the company as a public benefit company, responsible registry, cyber security provider, and great employer.
Reporting to the Head of Communications, you will be part of a wider Communications team which covers internal communications and content creation. As we work in a flexible and agile way, you will support your colleagues in these areas when required, just as you will be able to draw on their support for your own programmes of work. On a project basis you’ll get to work with colleagues in the Corporate Affairs directorate, around the business and with external agencies.

 

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING


You will work closely with stakeholders and teams across the business in order to:
•    Develop and deliver a proactive press office plan that delivers for Nominet. 
•    Work with the head of communications to deliver a series of compelling stories to bring the Nominet corporate narrative to life. 
•    Deliver engaging, impactful and responsive social media content. 
•    Maintain calendar of key corporate events, and mange set piece opportunities to showcase Nominet’s public benefit contribution. 
•    Advise on communications issues within the business to ensure corporate reputation is maintained and corporate narrative appropriately represented. 
•    Develop and deliver a media plan to showcase Digital Youth Index. 
•    Ensure the team delivers high-quality, timely, messaging and creative assets as appropriate.
•    Maintain an updated library of messaging, stats, Q&A and materials to support outreach. 
•    Manage and collaborate with internal stakeholders to bring together views in areas that will develop and promote Nominet’s objectives.
•    Ensure internal stakeholders are updated on progress, and key developments are communicated company wide. 
•    Support annual report & evaluation of communications activities, monthly business reporting. 
•    Organising media training.

 

WHO YOU ARE


You’ll have previous experience of having worked as a journalist, or in a media role in an in-house or agency PR team. Either way, experience and knowledge of the technology sector are essential. You’ll have a “nose for a story”.
•    Proven skills to manage multiple corporate audiences
•    Experience of issues management, proactive campaign planning, media relations 
•    Confident and credible communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write impactful communications
•    Organised with attention to detail
•    Good strategic awareness, can develop a rational and supportive argument
•    Demonstrable ability to develop key relationships and trust with internal and external stakeholders, to act as credible representative to stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds
•    Ability to listen to, and understand different perspectives when developing comms approaches
•    Ability to plan and prioritise conflicting tasks, with initiative to identify and manage risk
