About the role:

 

Join our dynamic and innovative team as an Associate Platform Engineer – a role designed to nurture and develop emerging talents in the field. Embark on an exciting journey as you become an essential part of our agile team, contributing to the design and construction of Nominet's cutting-edge Enterprise Platform. This Private Cloud platform is the foundation of our operations and powers critical applications, including the prestigious UK registry. 

 

Working closely with a team of highly skilled engineers, you'll contribute to the development and deployment of this state-of-the-art platform. Your role will emphasize learning, growth, and mentorship, focusing on multi-site co-location data centers, Kubernetes container stacks, and integrated service and management solutions that leverage the power of both public and private cloud systems.

The essential bits:

 

You'll have good technical expertise across in hardware management, skilled in supporting and maintaining enterprise-level VMware environments. Knowledge of the latest Linux operating systems, equivalent to an RHCE level, Windows systems, Active Directory, group policy, OS (Operating System) patch management, and possesses some PowerShell knowledge. 

 

Also a familiarity with automation methodologies, such as Infrastructure as Code (IaC), with experience in Ansible or equivalent automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Puppet, etc.). and utilizing enterprise-grade monitoring solutions like CheckMK, Zabbix, Nagios, vRealize Operations (vROps), etc. along with Scripting ideally.

 

About you and what you need to be successful:

 

As a Associate Platform Engineer at Nominet, you will play a pivotal role in our project team dedicated to building our new platform. Working within cross-functional squads, you will have hands-on experience with the entire tech stack, actively contributing to the development of the platform. In addition to platform development, you will provide essential hardware lifecycle and data centre hardware support, ensuring the infrastructure is robust and reliable.
