ABOUT THE ROLE:
If you are a quality focused software engineer who thrives on building automation frameworks and driving agile development practices into a team, then this is the role for you!  
Working within Agile teams, you will contribute to the test infrastructure and automation frameworks of two key projects at Nominet– ensuring best practice in all of your work whilst you engage with the wider development team.
In this varied role, you will deliver high-quality, resilient functional tests in two key Agile projects together with regression tests for waterfall projects. 
 
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
You can expect to: 
•    Work within an Agile team, developing automated tests (front and back end) for both UI (Web only) and API services as well as working within the wider automation team supporting legacy applications and Waterfall projects
•    Contribute towards the automation architecture and integration of the framework with the CI/CD pipelines
•    Engage with Product Management and developers in a ‘3 amigos’ stints to understand requirements, determine test coverage and deliver software with built-in quality.
•    Contribute to BAU automation tasks such as maintaining/improving existing automation suites to provide a cost effective automation framework
•    Share knowledge and best practices with wider business on effective test automation. 
•    Contribute towards the development of performance tests


WHO YOU ARE:
The ideal candidate will have a real interest and enthusiasm for working in the team with a ‘can do’ attitude and readiness to take ownership of their work. With a naturally inquisitive mind and a resilient nature to deal with changing priorities, you will have the confidence to challenge status quo – and we fully embrace that as part of our values here at Nominet. If you are keen on developing your skill set against multiple technologies including Cypress, then this role could be for you.
In addition, you will have the ability to work as part of a team as well as being a strong motivated self-starter, communicating positively at all levels. 

 

Core requirements: 
•    Significant experience in Agile testing methodologies and behaviour driven development  (BDD).
•    Coding skills in Java, Javascript/Typescript and Python although other object-oriented languages will be considered. 
•    Demonstrable experience working with RESTful APIs and relational databases

•    Demonstrable experience in UI testing (Web Only). We use Cypress as our front-end testing tool but we will consider experience with other tools too.

•    Experience using test management tools e.g. JIRA, X-Ray would be useful but not essential. 
•    A good understanding of the Internet, Domain Name System (DNS), Registry Systems is helpful and would be an advantage but we don't mind if you dont have this as long as you are keen to learn !
