FAQs
Application Process
Q) Can I apply for more than one job at the same time?
A) Yes, but please make sure you have the relevant skills for the role you’re applying for.
Q) Is industry experience necessary for all roles?
A) This depends on the role; the job description will highlight if industry experience is required, alongside any other relevant skills.
Q) Can I still apply if I don’t meet all the job requirements?
A) Yes - if you feel you’d be a good fit for a role, even if you don’t meet 100% of the criteria, we’d still encourage you to apply.
Nominet is an inclusive employer; research shows that men are more likely to apply for a job where they only meet 60% of the qualifications, whereas women may only apply if they meet 100%. At Nominet, we recognise this and want everyone to have access to the same opportunities.
Q) What is the interview process?
A) The interview process will vary depending on the role you’re applying for, but will typically include competency-based questions and a technical assessment if relevant.
Your recruitment partner will make sure you know what to expect at each interview stage ahead of time. They'll also be on hand to guide you throughout the process.
Work Culture
Q) Can I work flexibly?
A) Yes, if you're flexible, then so are we. We ask employees to spend a minimum of 20% of their time in the office. This may vary week to week, depending on individual teams and their requirements, but we encourage colleagues to have a good work life balance.
Q) What is the dress code?
A) We’re a professional yet informal bunch at Nominet, so dress comfortably and in clothes you’d be happy to meet anyone in.
Q) Do you offer opportunities for career growth and development?
A) Yes, at Nominet we want to support you to be the very best in your role. As part of this, we’re committed to helping you explore opportunities for development. This will depend on your role, career aspirations, and the company’s needs at the time.
Company Locations
Q) Where are your offices located?
A) We have two offices in the UK based in Oxford (our head office) and London (co-working space). We also have a smaller remote team based in Australia.
Q) Is there parking at the office?
A) We offer free parking at our Oxford office. This includes free charging for electric vehicles as well as bike shelters for those cycling to work. Our London office, based in the heart of Shoreditch, is only accessible via public transport.
Q) Do you sponsor work visas?
A) Unfortunately, we’re unable to sponsor work visas at this time.
Diversity and Inclusion
Q) What steps does the company take to ensure an inclusive work environment?
A) We work closely with managers to ensure we follow diversity and inclusion best practices across our organisation, enabling us to problem solve and drive change together.
We’re committed to building an inclusive culture that celebrates diverse perspectives, improves representation and leverages differences to drive innovation and growth.
We’ve also established an Employee Resource Group (ERG) that helps to raise issues and identify ways we can continually improve and develop to support a more diverse and inclusive organisation.
Q) Do you have Employee Resource Groups (ERGs)?
A) Yes, our Diversity & Inclusion Group brings together employees with a shared interest in advancing diversity, whether as a member of a diverse community or as an ally. It aims to:
- Support the diversity and inclusion agenda at Nominet and become allies for others.
- Raise awareness of why diversity and inclusion is important within Nominet, with the aim of creating greater trust and inclusion.
- Increase the disclosure of diversity data by explaining why it’s important and creating trust in how the data will be used.
Q) How does the company support diversity in the workplace?
A) Nominet is committed to encouraging inclusion, equality and diversity among our workforce, and eliminating unlawful discrimination.
Our primary focus is on recruitment, the candidate experience and onboarding to make the employee journey as positive as possible. We support our managers by training them on best practice during the selection process, unconscious bias and changing candidate expectations.
We’re committed to getting the basics right and follow a data-driven strategy to ensure we’re clear on our data and can address any issues in the right places first. We’re continuing to focus on work flexibility through our hybrid working offer, by introducing regional hub spaces where needed, and by developing new flexible options to improve our ability to attract and retain a diverse team.
